Dance Residency Opportunity for Primary Schools

Fingal Arts Office is working in partnership this year with Dublin Youth Dance Company (DYDC) to secure a dance residency placement in four primary schools in Swords and Balbriggan, Fingal.

An experienced dance artist will be chosen by DYDC to take up a six-week residency position in each school. The artist will visit the school one day a week over the six weeks and can work with three groups per school.  Each session can cater for 15 – 22 participants.  It will be necessary to split class groups into two or mix class groups in some cases. A large room or hall is required for movement; the sessions cannot be delivered in the classroom.  Sessions are between 30 – 40 minutes in length depending on the age of the children.

DYDC introduces dance in an imaginative and creative way. Children will learn to express themselves through movement, accompanied by music. The workshops focus on kinesthetic learning and uses movement as a method of reinforcing language and other focus areas of the curriculum.

Date Options:
Spring 2020: February, March, April.
Autumn 2020: September, October, November.
Please note that DYDC’s availability during these months is for Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays.
